I wasn’t going to blog today, after all, it’s not like you haven’t already seen the Belleza skin gift or the Redgrave boots a few dozen times already! I was planning another shoot when Feles IMed me to tell me about the 50L Friday Hay Y’all Barn from Turnip’s Homes and Stuff and how it might be perfect for my arsenal of sets and props. She was right, as usual. (Then she dragged me to RG for the boots, dragged me I tell ya!!!)
The barn, unlike a lot of other SL builds, is in proportion with a typical SL avatar. Even though it made for a bit of maneuvering to walk around, it’s totally worth it. The two small stalls on one side of the barn have doors that drop open into a fenced in area, and there are plenty of windows that open. The barn even comes with particle dust!
For another 50L you get the Hay Y’all Barn Stuff: hay bales, crates, sculpted prims with hay texture for landscaping around the barn (I put some down on the barn floor too, a throwback from my days mucking horse stalls I’m sure!) The barn and props may be my favorite 50L Friday items yet.

Some of my favorite poses go neglected in my inventory; I used to laugh as my pose count got near 300, 400, 500. Now I am pretty sure the count is in the multiple thousands, and one of these days I am going to box up the oldies so I can see through the clutter (I am, really, I will). Some of those oldies would make the cut though, like my Tuli poses. Tuli made poses? I bet lots of ya didn’t know that. Her poses are adorable, just like her, and are full or personality. It’s been a while since she released any new ones, but her collection stands the test of time.

Blame the total lack of accessories on my 50L friday find; I wasn’t planning a shoot but standing in that barn I couldn’t resist grabbing some shots.
If there is one thing I an not resist, even if I am super busy, it’s taking photos of new skins. With all the releases this week I really am in skin heaven; I know lots of you are right there with me! Earlier this week Asuka Martin of Dernier Cri released her Charlotte skin. It’s been a while since Asuka has given us a new skin release – many people know her for her fantastic hair – and in trying these on you can tell how much work she has put into these skins.
I didn’t do any body photos, but I want to point out that Asuka has made lots of body improvements too, the skin has a more natural look, with better shading and highlights. Gone is the belly ring and in it’s place is a much better belly button,
The faces all have hints of her previous Lina skin and yes I say “faces” plural. Usually, skin makers have a consistent face within each line, but Charlotte has categories, each with variations on the lip shape or face shading. If you compare all three faces shown in this post, those are all the Charlotte skin, and each has their own personality. When you go try the demos, don’t stop at one! Try on several of them before you make your choice otherwise you might miss the one you’d like the best. If you loved the Lina line, you will recognize the lips on the “Dawn” set; see El in the purple dress below.
Speaking of the purple dress!! No doubt you have heard that fantastic photographer and sometimes blogger Zoe Demar has launched her clothing line. These Ayo sheer cocktail dresses are my favorite of her releases. The sheer sides add a sexiness to the dress (the dress is also available without the sheer areas for those of you a bit more modest) and the details on the back keep me thinking someone is going to come up behind me and unzip me 
The skirts have great movement too, really soft and flowy.

*blows dust off the blog* I wish I had 3 of me! but since I don’t, I have had to prioritize. I haven’t had much time to shop and find new goodness, but I hope you have seen me blogging my own clothing releases over at *elymode* . Last night I gave myself permission to put my own creations aside and photograph some wonderful items that have made their way to my inventory recently. Among my new favorites are these amazing Docs boots from Gos and the latest skin from Belleza. (coming soon)
The soon to be released Alyson skin from Tricky Boucher is beautiful and sweet and is going to make a lot of people very happy. Alyson is a bit younger and softer looking than the previous Belleza release, Jesse, which has more of a”femme fatale” feel to her. For those of you have been wondering when Tricky will release a pale skin; you won’t have to wait much longer! (darker ladies don’t worry, sunkiss and tan are there too) This skin will be sent as a group gift soon, with the full line coming in January.
The “Ely” necklace was a gift from my dear friend Vixie Rayna, and it means more to me than I can even summarize here, but I’m gonna try!. As a kid, my rl name was never found on coveted items like key-chains or those novelty license plates found at amusement parks. When I put this necklace on all that childhood disappointment washed away, and was replaced with something much more powerful: love and friendship. Now THAT is the spirit of the season.
Speaking of my youth… when I was 21 I spent 3 months backpacking around Europe with my 2 best friends. We hit a shoe store in London where I met my sole-mate (yeah, it’s a pun, not a typo), a pair of red Doc Marten boots. Fast forward 16 years: Gospel Voom shows me a photo of his SL Docs as a work in progress and I started to reminisce about my boots; he asked me what color they were and promised to add that color to the line, this really is the right shade of red! The boots morph to give you 3 styles in one (pristine, abused, and loose,) I think the only variation missing is the one with duct tape on one shoe’s toe where you’ve worn through to the steel tip 
I know that I am lucky and blessed when it comes to my success in SL. There are lots of talented people here, so who you know and being in the right place at the right time are just as important as doing a job well. I want to thank my friends* who support me even when I rant and feel sorry for myself. Thank you to the generous designers who share their creations with me even though I don’t blog very often lately. Thank you to the plurkers who make me feel more connected to a community of people than I have in many many years. Thank you to my photography clients and my elymode customers. I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season, and wish you the best in the new year.

El doesn’t get a lot of solo blog posts lately, and while she tries to be understanding, she was no longer able resist putting together some great looks and prancing in front of me taunting “you KNOW you want to take pics!!!” She was right, the way she has mixed together these pieces from MALT Fashions is completely irresistible. Apparently, the cupcakes at the cute little cafe at the MALT sim were also irresistible
This first set of photos combines the Daisy top (which you get in two versions, white trim and contrasting color trim) with the bottom half of the Gilli dress. Sculpted clothing has a tendency to look stiff, but Khea does such an amazing job with the textures that dramatically reduces that feeling. I’ve been a big fan of her designs and textures for a while now, and her recent releases really appeal to El with bright colors, fun styles, and floral details.
The top of the Gilli dress works on it’s own too. You will want to wear the glitch pants on the underwear layer, because the sculpt is semi-transparent. (this will ensure that the clothing layer underneath doesn’t look cut short) Added to the dress top attachment is a custom AO so that your outfit doesn’t break through the sculpts! I actually cheated and pulled poses out of it so that I could use them with the Daisy top, above. El and I are both pretty attached to our AOs but the poses in here are sweet, and it’s fun to change things up a little sometimes.
El has a bunch of other new goodies too. The shoes in both photos are from Heart & Sole, one of our new discoveries (ok, we discovered nothing, RubyStarlight told us). Bijoux Lefavre has created some very cute styles in tons of colors… I think I saw 4 variations on purple, for one shoe style, at her shop. That is our kind of designer.
We are also having fun with some of the recent hair releases from Exile. Some are new, some are previous styles retextured. From the moment that El put on this style, Breeze, she has refused to take it off. “I just like to pretend it’s windy.”

please excuse the lack of actual written content by me in this post. sometimes less is more.
Every once in a while these past couple of weeks, I pull my head out of Photoshop for a few minutes to see what’s going on, but I have been good and disciplined and quickly get back to the business of working on my own designs. Last night, when I got my hands on the lingerie created by Annyka Bekkers of Blowpop my work came to a halt and El took over and sent a message to Feles “you take pics with me now, you go get blowpop lingerie!” As you can see, it wasn’t a question, it was a demand, and they TPed over to chose colors. When they arrived, Celebrity Trollop was in the process of picking up some fat packs and she only had to hint at being available if we wanted another model before El invited her to join us.
The design of both sets is wonderful, and the attention to detail and the quality of every inch of these sets is so fantastic that if she keeps it up, I think Annyka could become one of the leading lingerie designers in Second Life. The fabrics are rich, the lacy parts bunch up perfectly, and the ribbons are so satiny that I want to reach out and feel how smooth they are. Her extensive experience designing skins has given her an understanding of the avatar, and as a result her work on difficult areas like the inner thigh is neat with almost no distortion, even if you find yourself in a compromising position
The Jolene set (above) comes with the option of the full long corset or without and on multiple layers; the stockings are not included but can be purchased separately and are available at different levels of opacity.
Yvette (below) is a lacy set with just the right amount of transparency. Again, the attention given to the details put this above the norm; the texture, shading and illusion of the of the appliqué is great, and the little cut-out with ribbon in the cleavage and top of the tush is drawn so well that… ok… I admit… I’m little little jealous of Annyka right now.
All poses in the photos above are from Luth Brodie’s Reel Expression. Every pose set Luth makes is fantastic, and I was so happy to be able to take advantage of her buy-1-get-1 anniversary sale this past weekend. Photographing a set with poses from only one creator can be a challenge when working with multiple avatars, especially when working around props, like the chair in the first photo, or when models wear especially difficult hair. (but let’s face it… we are all willing to do a little extra editing in order to wear hair from Truth, am I right?) We had to do both in-world prim editing as well as some Photoshopping to make things work, so as always, try the demos before you buy to see how hair fits you and where it sticks into you as you move and pose.
For the final image, I was in the mood to do something whimsical, so I dug into inventory for a few props with poses from Studio Sidhe. If you feel an affinity for magical things, these props are a must have.

New releases from Bijou almost always elicit an immediate tp over for me. I love the colors and textures, there are often multiple ways to wear the clothing, and everything has personality. When I saw these pants/shorts/jumpsuit I was fast on the fatpack buy button… I know it’s only digital fashion but some things just feel so good! As you can see, Groove comes with long and short pants option. The wide-leg pants on El, left, are fantastic, but I just wasn’t feelin’ it; my solution was to mod the lower leg prims to look more like slouchy flares. You won’t find them like that out of the box but it didn’t take too long to make them work this way.
The top options allow for three looks, and that’s before you start to mix the pieces up with other items. The white corset is adorable and I’m glad it’s included as a standalone jacket layer (with a sculpty bow to tie off the laces) as well as the undershirt. I let Feles have the cleavage shot for this set, but you bet I’ll be wearing it just like that!
The Adagio dress wasn’t really my style, but I know my girls and all I had to do was send a snapshot to Feles; I already had the teleport request up when she replied “tp me!” Included are both the big sculpted open skirt and the flexi parts that attach to the legs. You can wear all the attachment together for a full skirt too, but Feles has killer legs to show off, and El tends to flutter about too much to be confined by that much sculpt! The pants/underpants layer of the dress is not glitch pants, it turns the dress top into a teddy or bathing suit.

Sometimes I forget my SL roots: within two weeks of entering the world of SL I had horns and wings and dressed in a lot of red and black and fancied myself as a beautiful succubus. A recent reminder planted a seed in my head and I’ve been waiting for just the right outfit to break out those horns for; I found it in DE Designs Feral. I even dug into my inventory for the first wings I ever owned: Draconis from Material Squirrel.
DoC Eldritch has such a way with textures, the wrinkles and gathers and grommets are wonderfully rendered and shaded in a way that give the material real weight. The panties are on their own layer so you can were them separately if the single-leg, bare-ass pants are just not revealing enough for you. Beware tattoo lovers, the pants will use up your jacket, pants AND sock layer… so the only way you are getting tattoo on your lower body is if you are prepared to go commando. You do get the top on the shirt and undershirt layer, so upper body tattoos or some additional clothing can be worn.
To keep with the winged theme I went with something avian to match the “natural leather” version of Feral. Ember are my favorite bird wings, bold and strong, and are a fantastic example of the amazing texturing that Kala Bijou is capable of. I think most people know her for her demon and fairy style wings, but she does beautiful work with feathers too.
If you have an empty 30m x 30m space, and 200something available prims on your land, the Ciorcal Pavillion from Trompe Loeil is a great addition to your landscape. The round pavilion with stained glass panels comes in blues, reds, and greens and would be a fantastic area for a wedding reception, a drum circle, or a human sacrifice! sorry… that’s the succubus in me

El tried to get in on the shoot and when I told her she just wasn’t tough enough she got mad at me. As I tried to explain she yelled at me “shut yer pie hole!!!” and I just laughed at her….”see, not tough enough at all”

All of us have some favorite some shops in SL that create the “gotta have it” feeling in us with every new release. Haven Designs consistently does that to us, especially El, who hovers near me making grabby hands at the photos and whining “I knoooowwww you have work to do but loooooookit!!!” She’s a bad influence, that one. El had her eye on the Selah set and brought me over to Haven to look at colors, and I just had to get Roewan for myself.
I love the fabrics, textures and colors Delora uses, the cut and design of each set is unique, and the quality of every item is fantastic. Both sets come on multiple layers and can be worn without the attachments for different looks. Roewan even has an alternate version without the midsection that makes a great bikini.
The hair in these shots is Zoey from Annette Voight. If you are a long-time member of the Decoy update group, you may have it, but if not you will be able to purchase an updated version of this style at the upcoming hair fair! Zoey is one of my favorite up-dos on the entire grid, and weighing in at only 41 prims, this is my standard hair for high lag events.
The Night Fairy and Evadne wings from Material Squirrel seen here will make their debut at the Fantasy Faire starting next week along with 3 other new styles in multiple colors. I have been a huge fan of Kala’s work since my early days and she is one of those designers that I still get a little fangirl about, even though I’ve gotten to know her. If you don’t own any wings in SL, I urge you to head down to her shop or her booth at the faire and check it out. You don’t have to RP fairies or demons to wear wings you know.
All poses in this set are from Sweet Lovely Cute which has a new main shop and some new animations, AOs and couples poses to go with the new build. Each pose is full of personality which makes them so much fun to shoot.

Sometimes, the items in my photos are so full of fantastic-ness that I don’t know where to begin. Clothing, poses, locations…. this post is chock full of goodness. During blogger appreciation week, I received the R. Longo poses from DARE and have been waiting for an opportunity to use them. These aren’t your typical fashion poses and deserved some special treatment. I added the Antoine Picard pose set also from DARE to my collection today, and headed out to the Oubliette sim for a shoot.
The poses are so expressive, I wanted something wild for this shoot, and DE Designs latest, Ana, was sitting in my “recent items” tab waiting for me. If inventory could raise its hand and jump up and down, Ana would have. I have always loved DoC Eldritch’s textures, and everything to come out of that store is just dripping with sexy… his style fits right into the fantasy side of SL that I appreciate so much.
Ana comes in 3 colors and includes the top on the jacket layer, panties in the undies layer, and the lace up thigh highs which I am completely in love with. It can be worn with or without the bustle (2 kinds), so if you like the top but it seems a little *over* the top for you… it’s great with a pair of pants…

I wasn’t going to include this closeup on the blog but there’s some really good stuff here.. so please excuse my photo overload! My eyes are Purple Morning from Poetic Color and if you haven’t checked them out yet, get down there. You can usually find a free pair there, it changes every once in a while, and I promise, once you get your hands on them, you are going to want more.
The necklace is from Petal Meg, It was a gift from the Keys to the VIP hunt, so I headed over to the store to see if it was available to purchase, and it is. This is one of those times where you really can not judge a book by its cover. The vendor pics look outdated… but the product is really wonderful. The pendant is made from images of the RL pressed flower jewelry that Fuscia Jewell creates; there are so many different flowers to choose from, I know I will be back.
