OK, see… I had this job recently, and I was asked for glammy sparkliness… which is a bit against my nature most of the time. A commercial artist, though, listens to what the client wants and tries to give it to them, even if it doesn’t fit into the comfortable box we have built around ourselves. When working within a particular theme for a while, I get really into it…. and even after the job is done it sticks in my head for a bit. This is why my friends have been making fun of me for a few days… I have been on a sparkly glittery kick. Perfect timing too, the new release client is a disaster but I can finally take photos with glow… sparkly, glittery glowiness!
I was hopping around a bit today to some of my favorite shops: if I was going to wear Truth’s Jess again (I’m not the only one… I see you.. yeah, you, you been wearing it for like 4 days straight, don’t think I can’t see you) the least I can do it wear it with something new. When I saw the “Flourish” camisk at Haven Designs, and better yet, in a RFL vendor, I didn’t have to think twice before buying. I LOVE the cut and texture, you gotta check out the back in the last photo. There are a bunch of other colors, but this Silvered Rose is a limited edition, RFL item only. Meant to be worn alone, I knew it would be great with pants too.
…but as I said, it’s meant to be worn alone… look how cute; it’s lifted up and shows my tush! That tush is courtesy of Ryker Beck’s Candace skin…. and a healthy dose of photoshop to make me so perfectly round

A couple of weeks ago, I opened the SL upper body clothing template to experiment. Then I cried. I should be able to do this, but I was missing something. I sent a desperate message to a designer friend, who will remain nameless so people don’t start to beg her for help… and I begged for her help. She pointed me towards a different template set, and also to a tutorial about alpha channels in Photohop. I thought to myself “I’m a photoshop pro, hmmpff, I KNOW what an alpha channel is I don’t need this….” but then…. it’s amazing how reading about something you already know can spark an “AHA!” moment that makes you look at things differently.
I was starting to get it, I had the shape defined the the basic texture, even some shading, but I knew there must be a more efficient workflow. I made puppy dog eyes at another designer friend who showed me what her finished texture looked like and even a screen shoot of her Photoshop workspace. Another “AHA” moment and I was back in Photoshop so fast. I was gonna do it. I was gonna make something and it was going to be cute, and gosh durnit, my seams and edges were going to be fabulous! I give you the *ely* short zip cardi. No, really, I give it to you, it’s free 
Next up I wanted to wrestle with the dreaded underarm area, and to work on making tank top straps that lined up. The cami came out even better than I had hoped, though shading that boob area is a bitch! *pats herself on the back*
I’m starting out with relatively simple designs, and really, when I create, I’m a simple girl. My RL photography and graphic design work is clean without a lot of decorative features, though I look at the more complex work of others with awe and appreciation and a bit of jealousy. I added a little cut-out heart to the back of the tank to give it a little something extra, and the simple, even cliché, nature of this addition seemed like the perfect symbol for my baby steps into clothing design.
I made the 2 items with layering in mind, they each come in 5 colors that mix together well. For now, the Short Zip Cardi comes on the jacket layer and the Heart Cami is on the shirt layer, and you can get both for free if you pop down to my studio at the Journey sim. Once I have enough items to call a collection, I hope to open a little shop, and will put these on more layers and have them for sale.

When I was a kid, my parents went to Hawaii and my Dad, who grew up in a very poor home and only dreamed of visiting such an exotic locale, got so excited over the fact that the hotel had peacocks in the lobby and gardens. The idea was just so decadent and I know it was was of those moments that made my Dad proud of himself for all he had accomplished so far.I saw one in person myself on a trip to Morocco when I was a teen, and then a few years ago walking through some beautiful gardens near Lisbon, Portugal. They really are beautiful creatures and because of the simple childhood memory of my Dad’s excitement, they hold a special place in my heart. When Sparkle Skye used the words “peacock” “green” and “dress” in the same sentence, my reaction was “yes yes yes!”
The Chanteuse gown has several options, like most of the dresses from Sparkle Skye. I’ve shown two versions here, the “short train” above, and the “slender” skirt, below. A longer train and a short version of the dress are also available. The Goblin wings from Fancy Fairy are not part of the set but I can not imagine a more perfect set of wings for this gown. I love that besides the spine attach option, you can also attach one wing to each shoulder, perfect for wearing multiple accessories.
Oh oh oh… so, I know I haven’t done much blogging this week, and I am saving most of the “blogger appreciation” goodies for a time when I am less likely to saturate the feeds with redundant items… but but…. Tuli!!!!!!!! I love youuuuuu!!!!! I would attempt not to get all fangirl, because Tuli is really a wonderful, down to earth person who I consider a dear friend, but sometimes, I just wanna hump her leg. Bloggers were treated to a prototype of her upcoming Hope skin and this face is so pretty and so sweet…. I’m almost not sure if I am allowed to wear it 
The photos were shot at Camelot Gardens which, to be honest, is a little old school as far as SL building is concerned. Their are no sculpts here and the textures, which are actually fantastic, don’t have drawn or baked on shadows which we have come to see as the norm. Its the kind of place where you will see newish residents dancing romantic with other newish residents (I profile stalked over a half dozen AVs there and not one was over 6 months old!) But… if you can put that aside for a few minutes there really are some great photo ops. Bring your pose hud though… it’s a no build area.
(update: I mentioned some white halo at the edges of the dress, but since my post, Sparkle has gone in and corrected that flaw. thanks Sparkle! )

Avalon Silks, the newest release from Haven Designs, is a sweet romantic sexy playful magical set; just… wow. The unique cut, the delicate fabric, the amazing silver embellishments on the skirt and arm bands create a stunning example of how Haven Designs silks go so far past the norm, I almost hesitate to call them silks.
Most of Haven Designs’ offerings are not for the modest, and Avalon is no exception; the fabric is sheer enough that nipples are visible, and though the bodysuit does connect front to back between the legs, well, I wouldn’t call it coverage. Depending on the angle, the skirt hides you a bit, but any interested party with cam skills is gonna get a look at ya. I love the chain that holds the skirt up, and the way it is designed to sit has that “only in SL but I believe it” quality. El’s hips are pretty wide, so it took some fidgeting, but eventually she got it almost perfect.
El got to break out a few newly purchased items for this shoot, including the Gank collar and cuffs from Violet Voltaire. If you are a fan of Violet’s jewelry, you better get your ass down there by the 16th when the shop will be closing so she can embark on some RL endeavors. 50% off most items and some great freebies/cheapies too.
Also for only a limited time, the NW hair from ::69:: is part of the 1L rainbow pack. Yes, I know, many of you don’t need a rainbow pack, but you never know when pink or blue or purple hair might come in handy. Lot’s of styles available, you don’t even have to bloat up your inventory, take em home and stick ‘em in a box.

Nomine gave me heart palpitations. The word was out that there was a sale at Nomine, a 100L sale. I assumed this would be on select items, and I’d check it out, but… there was no way the items I had my eye on would be on sale, no way.
Yes way!!! SO much is on sale, including the Medea dress with rich textures and colors and a cut that is mind-blowingly sexy… my eye scanned back and forth over the colors; this is when the palpitations started. Which to get omg I want them all should I get the green? or the purple? or maybe black and white… when is this sale lasting till? do I have time to come back?”
The Medea dress was on my mental list of things that I want, but wonder “do I want to buy something that I may only wear once?” That isn’t to say that the price was out of hand, but items in the 500L and up range get carefully considered and put aside until I am really sure. So… ya know what I did at the 100L sale? I bought four of them Oh oh oh and they are transferable, so you can share ‘em with your friends.
Also on the mental list was Assassin and when I passed over it and saw it was on sale I was clicking and buying multiple colors before I had time to even think. I was so excited that I sent a pic to Feles to show her; she told me that yes it was sexy, but if she saw me out shopping she’d take a picture to send to me to make fun of the butt floss. I told her, “it’s not for shopping ”
The flexi pant legs have great movement, and the shape is similar to the sleeves which are sculpted. This makes photos much easier than flexi sleeves, considering that gravity it often working against us with flexi attached to our arms. You get 2 top options, bikini or pasties, and the panties are on a separate layer too.
El and I are both in the new Faith skin from Tuli. Faith really is different from anything Tuli has done before, so even if you haven’t been a customer in the past, you should go down and check them out. She has also reduced the prices on some of her other skins, and the existing Meredith’s are being retired any minute now so run and get ‘em.

I had been so uninspired this past week that I posted to plurk asking for suggestions… the first two replies? pink. blog something pink *glares at gogo and leah* I don’t usually do pink. But hey, I asked for help so I typed pink into my inventory search to see what came up.
I got to my Sn@tch folder and saw a few things labeled as pink that would be great together. I started trying things and thought to myself “hmm this pink is rather purplish” and got a big smile on my face. Now I can wear pink, but it doesn’t have to be pink. To add to the perfection of the moment, I had added Ivey Deschanel, Sn@tch designer, to my plurk timeline that very day… it was serendipity.
The Bit of Trim Sweater and the Spellbound skirt have been in my inventory for quite a while, and when I put them on I went back to look at my flickr, not believing I had never worn them together before. This isn’t quite what you get when you put the skirt on though. I have this thing for long skirts that are shorter in the front, so I modified it from the floor length full skirt it was designed to be.
Poses in these shots are from Ana Lutetia’s latest set, and this next one is my favorite. Usually this kind of pose leaves me with a thumb in my boobs, or the arms look awkward trying to fold around the boobs, but this one is just perfect.
Flickr is a great resource for finding SL locations; the “SL Photographer’s Heaven” group is all about places on the grid where you can rez a poser for taking photos. When I’m in the mood for something new I will look through the group, most photos include SLurls, or look at the “master list” included in the group discussion. through the group I found the Macbeth sim… and I am not sure what else to say besides o m g.
The first photo was taken on the outer edge of the sim, there are lots of photo ops around the perimeter of the main build. Dark, animated ghosts hover around the the main room, a very high space with tall columns; if you have the volume up you will hear them speaking, quoting from Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Step out of the main room into a tunnel of flowers and…. reaching hands *shudders*. Check out the text near the floor… quotes from Macbeth scroll along the ground. (the tunnel is not actually this purple, that’s my processing.)
Pssst…. have you heard that Tuli is in the process of releasing new skins? This one is available at her location at The Deck, with other makeups to be released soon. The eyes are from Tuli, too; a group gift that you won’t be able to buy.

Sometimes a girl gets lucky… like when she is standing around after a shoot and all of a sudden her very favorite skin designer in all the grid drops a folder on her… a folder of not-yet-released skins. She’s even luckier when her best friends IMs her 2 seconds later and say “tuli skins tuli skins tuli skins!!!!!”
Feles, HP and myself were treated to the wonderful surprise of a preview of the soon-to-be-released Faith skins and spent a good deal of time “oohhhing” and “ahhhhing” over them and thinking about how lucky we were, before we got down to the business of shooting. It doesn’t happen all the time that a skin looks great on all three of us without any tweaking, but I tped in and saw them and said “oh you guys look great!” and they were just as excited as I was, hugging their virtual inventories along with me.
The Faith body has wonderful detail, with stronger highlights than her two previous releases, Natalie and Kalista. This will appeal to those who like the glowier look of some recent skin releases, but still has the softness that I love about Tuli’s bodies. As usual, I have worked the tones in Photoshop, so you will want to try a demo before you buy, but I didn’t take my enhancements to the extreme.
Faith comes in 3 tones: light, tan and dark tan; 3 eyebrow options: black, brown and light; and 10 makeup choices that range from natural to soft to glamorous to”wow”. I have to admit looking at these photos now, I wish I got some closer close-ups… but let’s be honest here, you’re gonna see a few posts from me in the next day or two featuring these skins!
I’ve always had a thing for Tuli’s ass… um, I mean, my ass in Tuli skins, and though I know that Feles and HP were secretly laughing at me in IMs as I set this up I also know they are gonna love the resulting shot.
When I spoke to Tuli after getting the skins, she told me she was working on demos and vendors, so if you love Faith as much as we do, you won’t have to wait too much longer. Of course, if you can’t wait, there is a special edition available at her shop at The Deck. You’ll see that one in my next post. You see, Tuli dropped these on me about 30 seconds after I finished shooting a set featuring that skin!

I have already surrendered to the idea that if I walk into Bijou and find something I like, I am just going to buy the fat pack. Thats what happens when you discount the packs by over 50%. When I got the notice that there were some new releases, I ran over and… yeah.. there was something there just for me.
The Stomp set is a shiny clingy long top paired with leggings, and can be worn in many ways, even before you start adding other elements to it. The set includes the top in both an off the shoulder long sleeve version as well as sleeveless. Most layers are included, I really do appreciate when a long top is available on the shirt/pants layer, allowing you to have a jacket layer over it… which I didn’t do here, but you know what I mean!
As I sometimes do when I blog, I chose one item or one designer for each part of the outfit (ie: clothing, shoes, hair, jewelry). When I realized my Bax Coen boots would work here I got a little too excited and started customizing the color of all the little details. Did you know there are four different sections of heel that you can customize? yeah, four, on just the heel. overkill? are you kidding? a girl can never have too many options.
Another shop running through this post is Magika. I know El and I wear a lot of Magika hair on the blog, but it really is our favorite and every release gets better and better. A few of the recent releases have headbands, and the texture being used now is so nice! I want a collection of scarves like this RL so that I can tie them around my head. Magika has new releases so often that I am amazed time an again at their creative styles and new ways of interpreting more traditional looks.
Someone commented on my flickr about the background texture of one of these shots; that made me smile because I had bought the MiaSnow Modern Indulgence skybox specifically to shoot this set. The saturated colors and textures complement the Stomp outfit so well that I needed the skybox just for this… though with 7 color combinations and rooms full of so many colorful textures, I see it becoming a standard for setting up photos.
Unlike some of my other Bijou fat pack purchases, Stomp has lots of wearability as seperates. You get a pair of panties to match the top so it cam be worn without the leggings or other pants (see above) and the leggings have a well finished, low cut waistline as well as sculpted parts near the ankles for a little bit of slouch. Oh, a little heads-up: because I bought the fat pack, I chose leggings from one color set to wear with a top from another color set. If you plan on buying just one color, don’t use my photos for reference, look at the in store vendor photo.

I wasn’t planning a blog shoot today, I was just trying on some newness from Magika and considering a nap when I looked at myself and said oh this is too sweet not to shoot. New Magika releases today include a bunch of hairstyles and clothing and jewelry. I’ve combined some of my favorites here with a tunic from Malt for a look that I would totally expect to see on someone walking on the Village Green in my hometown of Woodstock, NY.
The highwaisted pants, available in several colors, have great detail around the waist, the wrinkles and shading give the perfect illusion of the tension of the fabric. I love the panel with the double row of buttons too, and would just hope that in RL the buttons would be only for visual effect, with a sneaky little zipper somewhere along the side!
When worn with a long top, the pants take on a more relaxed look. The sculpted pant legs are hidden by the flowers in this shot I know, but they have just the right amount of flair and slouch to look very natural. Check out the last photo for a better view. The bangle set is also from Magika, though I modded the colors a bit to match the outfit.
I think my favorite of the new Magika hair releases is Sunny; I just adore the way the hair frames the face and that one bit that hangs lower between my eyes… omg it’s perfect. The headband is beautifully textured and color change, and ties in the back in a very sweet bow, check it out in the last photo. The rose isn’t part of the hair, but is also one of the new Magika items.
And just in case you haven’t seen enough of the new Tuli skin “Faith” here she is again. I am almost jumping out of my seat in anticipation of the full release but for now I am happy to wear the group gift prototype, which is absolutely gorgeous.

It’s rare that I will include several different looks in one post, but when I got my hands on the Alisha skins from Chaisuki I just could not decide which to shoot. So many of the makeup options made me say “oh oh that one!”, so I just had to shoot a bunch. The lips of these skins are my favorite feature, the shape is just right for my face, and there is a perfect amount of texture and shine. My other favorite feature… isn’t really a feature: when you buy Chaisuki skins you get 2 tones in the folder for each skin. In my Alisha folder were both the sunkissed and tan tones.
This look started coming together around items from Haven Designs. I went over to get my hands on something I’ve had my eye on and discovered the discount area where I found the Qualsha top. Included in the folder are 5 colors, the jacket layer comes with the long undershirt and the shirt layer is without it. The Capri Lace Tights from Malt were a great match, and one of my favorite items. I’ll eventually have most of the colors I am sure.
In keeping with the Haven Designs on top, Malt on the bottom theme, I shifted the colors here. I’ve got on some of my favorite most versatile jewelry too; the Elegance Bangles from EMJ let you customize metal and gem color and comes with a few different size/style bangles, and includes all for both wrists. Not only are they really nice… they are perfect if you don’t own a lot of jewelry but want something that will match anything.
Wow… there is a lot I am trying to cram into this post but, can you blame me? this is all really great stuff. Let’s see.. what next… oh, eyes! You know those times when you want to keep something to yourself? when you have to stifle a growl when someone asks “where did you get that?” What, you don’t? It’s just me? Oh. Well that is how I feel about the eyes in these shots from Poetic Colors. Somehow the designer is able to mix together eye colors that are unreal, yet totally believable.
On my trip to Haven I also picked up a new RFL exclusive, Tink in gold. This top comes with a flexi attachment for the top and a tattered prim skirt… urrr, well, its almost a skirt I’ve paired it here with another color of the Malt Capris, so if you want to see the skimpy attachment you’ll have to head on over to Haven Designs.
What I really went to Haven for was this. The Qadesh Silks in purple have been calling to me for a while now and I thought they’d be a great way to show of the Chaisuki skin.
The poses is this series are all from Body Language by Sweet Lovely Cute, a favorite place of mine and El’s for AO animations. I recently discovered their static model poses too that are fun and expressive.
The Chaisuki skin demos were kind of a tough call, with lines across the face like many creators are doing now, and “demo” written on both cheeks. When I first wore the skins the highlights on the face were stronger than I had anticipated, but that didn’t stop me from wanting to wear and photograph them all!
