Today is my rl birthday, and because of the nearness to Independence Day, I have always felt a connection to the red, white and blue of the stars and stripes. It is everywhere I look at this time around my birthday, and I see it as a symbol of my own independent spirit. I took some “me” time with Feles as a gift to myself, and had some red, white and blue photo fun…
How could we resist this Stars & Stripes edition of the Solange! Boom dress? I really do just love everything that woman makes. Adding poses from RubyStarlight’s Exposeur brings the perfect amount of enthusiasm to the shot. (color change pom poms included with the Go Team! pose set!)
I’m addicted to Burrough’s Jewelry because every part of every piece is color change, with dozens of color options. There are always items on sale, gifts, and my alts have spent some time stalking the lucky chairs there. The new Starlight jewelry sets (lots of pieces not shown here), just in time for the holiday, are temporarily on sale as of today, one of the necklaces is even free (for now)!

*blows dust off the blog* I wish I had 3 of me! but since I don’t, I have had to prioritize. I haven’t had much time to shop and find new goodness, but I hope you have seen me blogging my own clothing releases over at *elymode* . Last night I gave myself permission to put my own creations aside and photograph some wonderful items that have made their way to my inventory recently. Among my new favorites are these amazing Docs boots from Gos and the latest skin from Belleza. (coming soon)
The soon to be released Alyson skin from Tricky Boucher is beautiful and sweet and is going to make a lot of people very happy. Alyson is a bit younger and softer looking than the previous Belleza release, Jesse, which has more of a”femme fatale” feel to her. For those of you have been wondering when Tricky will release a pale skin; you won’t have to wait much longer! (darker ladies don’t worry, sunkiss and tan are there too) This skin will be sent as a group gift soon, with the full line coming in January.
The “Ely” necklace was a gift from my dear friend Vixie Rayna, and it means more to me than I can even summarize here, but I’m gonna try!. As a kid, my rl name was never found on coveted items like key-chains or those novelty license plates found at amusement parks. When I put this necklace on all that childhood disappointment washed away, and was replaced with something much more powerful: love and friendship. Now THAT is the spirit of the season.
Speaking of my youth… when I was 21 I spent 3 months backpacking around Europe with my 2 best friends. We hit a shoe store in London where I met my sole-mate (yeah, it’s a pun, not a typo), a pair of red Doc Marten boots. Fast forward 16 years: Gospel Voom shows me a photo of his SL Docs as a work in progress and I started to reminisce about my boots; he asked me what color they were and promised to add that color to the line, this really is the right shade of red! The boots morph to give you 3 styles in one (pristine, abused, and loose,) I think the only variation missing is the one with duct tape on one shoe’s toe where you’ve worn through to the steel tip 
I know that I am lucky and blessed when it comes to my success in SL. There are lots of talented people here, so who you know and being in the right place at the right time are just as important as doing a job well. I want to thank my friends* who support me even when I rant and feel sorry for myself. Thank you to the generous designers who share their creations with me even though I don’t blog very often lately. Thank you to the plurkers who make me feel more connected to a community of people than I have in many many years. Thank you to my photography clients and my elymode customers. I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season, and wish you the best in the new year.

I know, I just wore this the other day, with these boots even but… but… Solange! Victoria comes in green now! and purple, and blue and fuchsia and aqua and black, too. I’d also like to mention that except for the blue.. all the other colors match Tesla’s Kensington boots perfectly!

I asked Feles to come up with some ideas for blog photos, and she mentioned something anti-valentine’s day, but silly. You see, neither she or I have has much luck in SLove, which isn’t to say that we haven’t had our share of experiences. It’s just that somehow, many of the men in our SLives have proven themselves to be total… wait.. ok, I will refrain from name calling here.
The idea came up to do a shoot giving each other gifts, after all, we are loyal and committed friends… who better to celebrate love with? I made a sweet pink heartsy backdrop and Feles pulled gift boxes together and we stripped to our cute little panties and brand spanking new PXL skins (ya like how I got the word “spanking” in there huh, Feles?) I tell ya, she’s the best looking Valentine I’ve ever exchanged gifts with.
Oh, but the gifts. The gifts are what have Feles and I still laughing, hours after our shoot. You didn’t think we were going to be THAT sweet and nice did you? After all, we’re some pretty bitter bitches. Look, we both had the same idea! Thank you Feles, a defaced photo of my ex is the perfect anti-Valentine’s day gift. I am so glad you like yours too.

a little note about the panties… they are um… kinda of…. crotchless. By that I mean that the front and back don’t connect at the crotch, keep your knees together ladies…. or don’t
So Feles is the queen of creating useless stuff that you just have to have. Christmas saw her Dirty Santa collection and with Valentine’s Day being just around the corner (hey, in retail terms) she’s bringing out Dirty Cupid. The freebie of the collection, the Dirty Cupid Ass Arrow is a must have, and I figured, hey, it attaches to my ass, it’s fashion, I can blog it!
The rest of the Dirty Cupid collection includes sarcastic and witty items such as a glass of wine that tells your beloved to drink, ya know, while you sign on as your alt to meet with your other boyfriend. My favorite though, is the box of chocolate; a menu driven box that lets your love select the treat of his or her choice while chat declares sweet nothings like “yeah, my wife likes that one, too”.
All sarcasm aside, the items are really well designed, especially for something you will probably forget about until a year from now when you search your inventory for “valentine” and “heart” and “cupid” to see what kind of useless crap you have to play with. See the collection on xstreet

I don’t celebrate Christmas, I am more of a Solstice kind of girl… but there is something so appealing about the red and white peppermint of a candy cane that transcends religion!
I’ve seen all kinds of great candy cane and Christmas items inworld and across the feed, but it was an item at Worldwide Industries that really caught my eye. Now, truth be told, the design of this outfit is similar to other WWI outfits: bikini, dress bodice, prim mini-skirt, rolled thigh high socks…. but there is something so appealing to me about this formula combined with the textures and color combos at WWI. Instead of adding other typical Christmas colors like green and gold for this set, the designer uses a variation of textures, dirty reds and neutral accents to create a grungier look.
I am a huge fan of shops that offer multiple options in the box. The obvious combination here was the bodice and prim skirt, but I really thought the bodice looked too sweet to cover. The bow around my waist is not part of the set. (It’s from love.love.love. and I am not sure if it’s still available)
The other thing I love about Worldwide Industries is that there is always an opportunity to show of our bums. When I was there shopping recently I overheard someone say “This stuff would be cute if it covered more” and I laughed and relayed that line to Feles who answered “Isn’t that the point?”
