If there is one thing I an not resist, even if I am super busy, it’s taking photos of new skins. With all the releases this week I really am in skin heaven; I know lots of you are right there with me! Earlier this week Asuka Martin of Dernier Cri released her Charlotte skin. It’s been a while since Asuka has given us a new skin release – many people know her for her fantastic hair – and in trying these on you can tell how much work she has put into these skins.
I didn’t do any body photos, but I want to point out that Asuka has made lots of body improvements too, the skin has a more natural look, with better shading and highlights. Gone is the belly ring and in it’s place is a much better belly button,
The faces all have hints of her previous Lina skin and yes I say “faces” plural. Usually, skin makers have a consistent face within each line, but Charlotte has categories, each with variations on the lip shape or face shading. If you compare all three faces shown in this post, those are all the Charlotte skin, and each has their own personality. When you go try the demos, don’t stop at one! Try on several of them before you make your choice otherwise you might miss the one you’d like the best. If you loved the Lina line, you will recognize the lips on the “Dawn” set; see El in the purple dress below.
Speaking of the purple dress!! No doubt you have heard that fantastic photographer and sometimes blogger Zoe Demar has launched her clothing line. These Ayo sheer cocktail dresses are my favorite of her releases. The sheer sides add a sexiness to the dress (the dress is also available without the sheer areas for those of you a bit more modest) and the details on the back keep me thinking someone is going to come up behind me and unzip me 
The skirts have great movement too, really soft and flowy.

*blows dust off the blog* I wish I had 3 of me! but since I don’t, I have had to prioritize. I haven’t had much time to shop and find new goodness, but I hope you have seen me blogging my own clothing releases over at *elymode* . Last night I gave myself permission to put my own creations aside and photograph some wonderful items that have made their way to my inventory recently. Among my new favorites are these amazing Docs boots from Gos and the latest skin from Belleza. (coming soon)
The soon to be released Alyson skin from Tricky Boucher is beautiful and sweet and is going to make a lot of people very happy. Alyson is a bit younger and softer looking than the previous Belleza release, Jesse, which has more of a”femme fatale” feel to her. For those of you have been wondering when Tricky will release a pale skin; you won’t have to wait much longer! (darker ladies don’t worry, sunkiss and tan are there too) This skin will be sent as a group gift soon, with the full line coming in January.
The “Ely” necklace was a gift from my dear friend Vixie Rayna, and it means more to me than I can even summarize here, but I’m gonna try!. As a kid, my rl name was never found on coveted items like key-chains or those novelty license plates found at amusement parks. When I put this necklace on all that childhood disappointment washed away, and was replaced with something much more powerful: love and friendship. Now THAT is the spirit of the season.
Speaking of my youth… when I was 21 I spent 3 months backpacking around Europe with my 2 best friends. We hit a shoe store in London where I met my sole-mate (yeah, it’s a pun, not a typo), a pair of red Doc Marten boots. Fast forward 16 years: Gospel Voom shows me a photo of his SL Docs as a work in progress and I started to reminisce about my boots; he asked me what color they were and promised to add that color to the line, this really is the right shade of red! The boots morph to give you 3 styles in one (pristine, abused, and loose,) I think the only variation missing is the one with duct tape on one shoe’s toe where you’ve worn through to the steel tip 
I know that I am lucky and blessed when it comes to my success in SL. There are lots of talented people here, so who you know and being in the right place at the right time are just as important as doing a job well. I want to thank my friends* who support me even when I rant and feel sorry for myself. Thank you to the generous designers who share their creations with me even though I don’t blog very often lately. Thank you to the plurkers who make me feel more connected to a community of people than I have in many many years. Thank you to my photography clients and my elymode customers. I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season, and wish you the best in the new year.

When I first came to SL, I used to do a lot of exploring. I enjoyed tping around to random places and checking out different sims. The residents of SL are so creative; finding new builds and new shops was always a thrill. Between my blog, my clothing line, and my photography, I don’t have as much time for that as I used to. Yesterday I decided to take a breath and give myself some me time. I headed over to the beautiful Chakryn Forest to enjoy the scenery.
The weather is getting pretty cold in my part of the RL world, so I decided to indulge in a little warm weather fantasizing as an excuse to wear as little as possible. The Paris Top by Iki Ikarus of Dutch Touch is not for the modest and the shorts from Iki’s Afri set are as short as they can be without letting your ass completely hang out. Dutch Touch clothing always has fantastic textures and lots of personality, and is one of those SL brands that I’ve been collecting for a long time.
I’ve been watching everybody rock their Dutch Touch skins, and when I saw this makeup, Breeze, on the River skin I knew it was going to become part of my skin collection. The blue and green shadow on the eyes is just beautiful, and the perfect colors to use in customizing the new Stella jewelry set from Tekeli-li. I love starry-themed accessories and, like most jewelry from Tekeli-li, Stella has dozens of color options for the metals and gemstones to chose from.
One thing I have learned from my RL hiking and exploring experiences, is the importance of a good backpack. I spent a few weeks researching and trying on packs looking for just the right thing a few years ago before a trip to Portugal/Spain; luckily in SL I don’t have to worry if it’s going to sit right on my back or chafe my shoulders! I found this one at JD Mechanical Toy Factory.

When El tried on the Kalea hair from Exile it was like a tiny explosion went off in her brain. This was not one of those times when she spent 2 days searching for just the right things, she KNEW what just the right things were immediately. The first item she grabbed was the Crystalled Hairsticks by Tekeli-li. I’m not sure if these are still available, they were in his gift box from the hair fair, so I bet a bunch of you have them.
El has a bad habit, especially when there are sales, of going on shopping sprees and then forgetting about half the stuff she bought. Every once in a while as she scrolls through her inventory (as my mom would say “it looks like a tornado hit in here!!!”) and she sees the Short Jean Jacket from Aoharu and thinks “I really should wear that sometime.” Well, sometime finally came, and she didn’t even need to mod it too much to accommodate her bust size. The open jeans, from Coco, have only made it out of El’s inventory once before but I’ve been telling her she needs to start wearing all the stuff she buys with her allowance or I was cutting her off!
Completing the look are a few of my *elymode* items: the Angled Tank in berry and the light grey Lounging panties. The simple designs mix and match well with clothing from other stores, and this is just the kind of thing I had in mind while designing.

El doesn’t get a lot of solo blog posts lately, and while she tries to be understanding, she was no longer able resist putting together some great looks and prancing in front of me taunting “you KNOW you want to take pics!!!” She was right, the way she has mixed together these pieces from MALT Fashions is completely irresistible. Apparently, the cupcakes at the cute little cafe at the MALT sim were also irresistible
This first set of photos combines the Daisy top (which you get in two versions, white trim and contrasting color trim) with the bottom half of the Gilli dress. Sculpted clothing has a tendency to look stiff, but Khea does such an amazing job with the textures that dramatically reduces that feeling. I’ve been a big fan of her designs and textures for a while now, and her recent releases really appeal to El with bright colors, fun styles, and floral details.
The top of the Gilli dress works on it’s own too. You will want to wear the glitch pants on the underwear layer, because the sculpt is semi-transparent. (this will ensure that the clothing layer underneath doesn’t look cut short) Added to the dress top attachment is a custom AO so that your outfit doesn’t break through the sculpts! I actually cheated and pulled poses out of it so that I could use them with the Daisy top, above. El and I are both pretty attached to our AOs but the poses in here are sweet, and it’s fun to change things up a little sometimes.
El has a bunch of other new goodies too. The shoes in both photos are from Heart & Sole, one of our new discoveries (ok, we discovered nothing, RubyStarlight told us). Bijoux Lefavre has created some very cute styles in tons of colors… I think I saw 4 variations on purple, for one shoe style, at her shop. That is our kind of designer.
We are also having fun with some of the recent hair releases from Exile. Some are new, some are previous styles retextured. From the moment that El put on this style, Breeze, she has refused to take it off. “I just like to pretend it’s windy.”

If you follow the feeds with any regularity, you probably have seen me blog about Decoy a few (dozen) times. As you may have heard, Annette Voight lost her mind yesterday, and marked down almost everything in her new main shop by 50%. The items she didn’t mark down… are free. Fatpacks of boots and hair and dresses and shirts… free. I told her that I was actually disappointed that I had everything bc I was missing the excitement! I knew that because of this crazy sale, the blogs were probably going to be full of photos of Decoy clothing, and I was just going to let that go by without my participation, there’s nothing there I haven’t blogged!
I couldn’t let it go… but what to do? I got it… *vintage* Decoy. Sorry, you can’t buy most of these items anymore; this is me reminiscing about the days when Annette shared her first releases with me and I just knew she was going to make it big. (hey Annette, I still have a lm to your place at the Bomb Factory!)
Time is very important to consider here. The Earth Fae set, The Autumn Comfort top, and the Promise jeans all made their way into my inventory around the fall of ’07. The texturing, the shading and the depth of these items was extraordinary for the time, and still hold up to today’s standards. well, ok, maybe not the non-sculpted prim cuffs!
“May I present to you,” El said, “the best ass in all SL!” No, not mine… Annette’s! When she released these jeans they became my standard jeans, the only others I’d even consider back then were from Last Call. I always joke with Annette that I love her ass… because I do think she makes the best tush.
In the last shot, El is wearing another discontinued set, In Suspension. It came with the pants and suspenders in a few colors and a white tank. Plus, of course, a great ass. Yes, those are system flares… hey, it was 2007.
The last item I am mentioning, the green dress in the photo below, has not been retired. It’s been around for a while, and the shading and wrinkles are impressive still today. So why include it? Because she named it Elysium. I was so flattered when she named this dress for me, such a simple gesture, but it meant so much to me.
Feles… forgive me for doing this without you, but I got the bug and just had to.

Earlier this week, I put up a gift and a limited edition set at my shop at ICON Lifestyles to celebrate the sim’s grand reopening. I’ll be taken them down Saturday night, so head over there for this comfy outfit. I’ve just finished the other dozen colors, but this one, pumpkin, will be gone for good. This photo has been enhanced to be used as a poster in my shop, but you can see a more accurate representation of the color in the second photo.
The cami & panties set is a gift, just buy for 0L. It’s in the front corner of my shop; should be easy to find. This gift is the same item I will sell in my shop in other colors; it comes on all layers and is entirely hand drawn like all clothing from elymode. (each future color set will sell for L$125) You can see some other colors in this shot on my flickr.
The zipped sweater and pants set, in pumpkin, is being sold as a set for L$200. The outfit includes sculpted color change cuffs with a dozen color choices and comes on lots of layers for mixing with other things in your inventory. (other colors will be sold as top and bottom individually as opposed to the set; sweater for L$175 and pants for L$160)

When I got the notice from DoC Eldritch about his latest release, Tyran, I knew it was a must have. I am all about options, and aside from the several options included with the outfit, it’s also got lots of mix ‘n’ match potential. This lingerie/dress/pants set really appeals to the lingerie-on-the-outside fan in me. The focus of the set is the corset top, with garters that lay over the pants. I have also managed to mod this skirt to work with just the glitch pants and attachment, but the intended combination uses a system skirt with the corset seeming to connect to straight black skirt under the semi-transparent prims. I just like my ass too much to hide it in a system skirt!
The full skirt is made of lots of tiered flexi and I love the uneven edges. The skirt required 2 attachment points, and my AO just hates anything attached to my lower spine, but by attaching it to my stomach instead it sit perfectly. Plus, that left room for some of my favorite wings from Material Squirrel.
The other option that doesn’t leave your tush uncovered are the pants that are included in the main set, which includes the Sunset lingerie (shown above) plus the pants and skirt options. The other color lingerie, like Sunrise below can be purchased separately, but as only as the lingerie (corset and panties) alone.
A perfect match for this top are the new Stud Encrusted Heels in gold from Step Ahead. I don’t do them justice in these photos (I’m wearing the black pair, without studs, in the other photos) but they are very well made (and I am very picky with my prim feet.) The shoes come with 2 versions to accommodate what you are going to wear: you have the invisiprims attached to one point and the shoes attached to another, which is becoming a standard, but there are ALSO a pair included that only require one attachment point so you can wear them with pant cuffs. The tops aren’t as finished looking in that version but that is fine because they are under your pants. The HUD is responsive and allows for gold and silver accents, as well as a no-stud option. There are lots of presets and you can make each preset darker, but it doesn’t allow matching your skin tone using RGB values. I think this is a first go at prim feet for these designers so maybe that will come in future releases.

I wanted to choose a skin for these shots that I haven’t worn in a while and PXL’s Kim was just the thing; something about skins from PXL on my face shape always makes me feel a bit exotic. To complete the look is the Ruby’s Fire jewelry set from Phoenix Rising (but only available at Starlight Exclusives) and a tattoo from my all time favorite tattoo artist in SL, Negko. To top it all off, I scored some hair at the fri.day sale; I just love discounts on hair fatpacks.

I don’t usually open with the T & A shot… but Annyka Bekkers of Blowpop is about to unleash on the grid the most amazing fishnet stocking you have ever seen in SL. Anyone following her plurk knows she has been wrestling with these for weeks now, determined to match the seams and create a foot that surpasses our expectations. When I saw on her flickr the other day the “almost done!” photo, I was awestruck. She did it, she really did it… and yes, they were completely worth the effort. Sure, I Photoshopped this pic, but I didn’t touch up the stockings, they really are this good. The Blowpop fishnets will be available sometime next week.
I wanted to show the ankles too, but… the new Bax Prestige boots in red trumped Anny’s ankles. You should check out her totally unprocessed photo here to see the full length of them. I needed something suitably tantalizing to go with the fishnets and boots, so I dug into my Kyoot folder for the super short Naga Skirt which has been around for well over a year, but still holds up to current standards. It’s short enough to be realy short without actually giving away all the goods. The fishnets are mod, so I can lower the waist to fit under my skirt and this is a HUGE plus for me.
I then spent at least a hour looking for something that was just the right red to match the boots (which are color change by the way, to 4 different hues of red). This is where it got tough, it had to be the right red, and it also had to show belly and cleavage, because I was really liking the body of this skin from Staged. I found the most perfect top, from Malt, with all the qualities I needed. The sweater comes with sculpted sleeves, but I tend to prefer things a little less bulky, and the finishing on the sleeves does allow you to skip the attachments. The necklace is from Burroughs and is the kind of store gift that makes you come back and spend your lindens. The set (earrings, ring, and 8 versions of the necklace) comes with a color change hud that is delicious.
The Cerra skin from Staged caught my eye when I went to check out Dezi Jarvinen’s shop. I like how the lips on this skin give me a subtle smile, and the shading of the features and the makeup really suit me. There is a great range of makeup from sultry to sweet, subtle to bold. and for some reason, I can’t stop looking at my chest I plan on some some more photos with the other makeups because they each really have their own personality. Cerra comes in tanned, seen here, and Pale. There are some visible seams in the trouble spots like the inner knee and inner arms which are cammoflagued in the demo, but it’s getting colder (more pants and longer sleeves… why does the RL weather influence how I dress in SL??) and no one’s been seeing me naked lately anyway! Dezi contributed a dress to Starlight Exclusives, which I also participated in; she does mostly casual wear along with her skins, but she did this dress especially for the fall collection of the Starlight Exclusives boutique.

Finally some time for myself! I’ve still got a ton of things on my to-do list but I was determined to take an entire evening to style something fantastic and spend some time on photos just for me. I knew my foundation was going to be one of Tuli’s new goth versions of Hope; next on the list, Freyja had pointed me in the direction of some wonderful jewelry from Alchemy Immortals the other day and I had just the updo I wanted to show it off, so I literally went to Evie’s Closet in my underwear, fully styled… except for clothing! At first, I was thinking something white and flowy, and doing some photos all in white head to toe, but I kept coming back to the Melusine set, the special edition Gothic Duo set that comes with both a black and black/red version. Thing was… the top of the dress wasn’t going wasn’t going to work with the jewelry I had my heart set on so… Evie’s Closet…. meet Elymode.
I told myself I was going to make an effort not to include my own elymode pieces in many of my posts but I have to face the facts, I started to design clothing because I wanted some very specific, versatile items that could be used to complete looks with parts of other sets from my favorite designers. For these photos I am wearing my Scooped-out Corset, but the top of the amazing Melusine set deserves to be seen, so take a look at it here on Evie’s flickr. As always, her textures are beautiful and rich, and she has a way with prims that is magical, and Evie always does a great bustle.
Hey so, see those shadows under the jewelry? I didn’t do that, it’s not some photoshop trick or the latest shadow viewer. That’s part of the jewelry and adds so much to the already wonderful sculpted and flexi pieces. The necklace, bracelet and earrings are texture change scripted for 6 metals, and the bracelet has gem color options. I knew I needed these pieces from Alchemy Immortalis as soon as the vendor rezzed.
